A Family Day at Starbucks

My day has been filled with fun and adventure all while I’m trying to get some work done. But it’s all good because life is about embracing the moments in the now and really enjoying each one. First I spotted a beautiful old 57 Chevy parked outside the Starbucks when we pulled into the lot. Of course, I was anxious to load the photos onto my blog so I uploaded them immediately.

I settled down to work on my assignments for the day after enjoying a few sips of coffee with my love and partner Cephas. He drank his coffee swiftly and hurried out to the van to nap since he was up most of the night. I started checking assignments and prepped to write one Blogsvertise task I had in my panel when I saw my daughter Kelly roll up in her nice SUV with her three small children. She has two older girls who are in school. Naturally, I dropped everything I was doing to visit with them. That lasted about one hour of quality time while Kelly and I drank coffee talking and sharing our time with each other.
The little ones had ideas of their own bouncing from one seat and lap to another demanding our full attention. I got a bright idea to request two sample cups of hot chocolate for David and Zinnie because even little Dahlia was enjoying sips of my ice water. Dahlia is only six months old. It worked because the whipped cream was a charm. As soon as David’s was gone he became bored, impatient and started demanding our full attention by acting out making squealing, grunting and other cave man style noises. I talked to him to try to calm him and he tried to hit me in protest. Mommy’s attempts failed as well.
So I whispered in David’s ear about trying his hand at photography. He lit up like a Christmas tree! All the while I was taking photos David watched me. So I gave the camera to him along with some simple instructions and with gentle guidance, I let David run his first photo shoot in a Starbucks coffee shop. It was fun until it was time for Mom to leave. The next hour I dedicated to creating a mini movie DVD of David Jones first attempt at a photo shoot. It’s imemorialized for him to enjoy for years to come. I’m sure he’ll get great pleasure with it when he grows up.
Next, I decided to buckle down and get some work done. This is my progress. I have a review to write on this blog and that’s where I am now in my focus for the day. It’s funny, too. The first item that caught my eye on Twitter today was a blog post about focus. So much for my resolve.
Have a wonderful day and enjoy your family while you have them with you.
